Colorado Ballet Cancels Nutcracker Performances

Colorado Ballet’s struggles continue, as its financial difficulties became more publicly apparent today. It was announced this morning that The Colorado Ballet has cancelled 20%, or six of its productions of this winters Nutcracker. Jack Finlaw, director of Denver’s Theaters and Arenas, told the press that the cancelled shows were showing weak ticket sales. Allowing the ballet to jettison some of the rental and labor costs associated with performing, the cancellations will soften some of the financial burdens the company will face in its immediate future.
