Joffrey Ballet to tour Iowa

It was announced yesterday that the Joffrey Ballet will perform a series of free events in Iowa next summer. The performances will undoubtedly be well attended, the Joffrey used to perform their Nutcracker in Iowa ever year and has a strong following within the state.

The tour will include free performances at 5 locations, the Sioux City Journal reports that,
"Swanson said the idea of free ballet performances is uncommon because the events are expensive to put on. Colleagues from around the country have told him nothing like this has been done before, Swanson said.

They'll create outdoor theaters for each of the five events, which are expected to draw crowds of several thousand."
